Test Results and Laboratory Specimens
You can request your test results online.
You may also telephone for your own investigation results anytime between 12:00 and 16:00, Monday – Friday.
Alternatively, with your consent we can text you your blood results. Please provide us with your up to date contact details.
Please be aware that if several blood tests have been taken, it may take up to seven days for each individual blood result to come through. You may therefore receive several text messages (these may have differing content i.e. normal or to come in/ book a telephone appointment/repeat test ).
Please do not be concerned if you are asked to repeat a test, this is only so your clinician can have a comparative result.
If we text you to come in to discuss your result with a clinician, please book a routine appointment within 2 weeks. Alternatively you may be advised to make an telephone appointment.
General Information about Test Results
Please remember that the staff can only act in accordance with the clinician’s instructions so may not be able to give you a result. This does not necessarily mean that there is a problem but simply that the clinician needs to see you or talk to you to explain the whole situation.
Results can be given to someone other than the patient if previously arranged with the clinician.
The results of tests carried out during hospital visits are not normally sent to the practice.
Results for patients over 16 years can only be given to the patient.
All specimens must be received by 12:30 on weekdays to link with the hospital courier service. Please ensure the bottle is clearly marked with your name and date of birth.
Usual Time for Results:
- X-ray- Up to 2 weeks

- Blood Tests- 2-7 days, depending on the test
