Urgent Problems

Life Threatening Emergencies

In a life-threatening emergency such as sudden severe chest pain, severe breathlessness, loss of power in a limb, loss of consciousness or severe bleeding dial 999.

Please only visit the A&E department if it is an emergency.

The health centre is equipped to treat minor injuries like small cuts and joint sprains.

If the injury is more severe or may involve a broken bone then you should attend the A&E departments at:

Queen’s Hospital, Burton Upon Trent
Royal Derby Hospital.

You can check this live feed to find out about current minor Injury / A&E waiting times .

Also in the event of poisoning or overdose you should attend the local A/E.

Urgent Problems during Surgery Hours

If you have an urgent problem during surgery opening hours call the health centre on 01283 227870. The receptionist will need to take some details about the problem and arrangements will be made for you to be seen by the clinician as soon as possible.

Emergency Care Specialist Practitioner

We have an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACN) who is able to prescribe. Please book with our ACP if you have an acute problem or if you have an existing problem that has significantly worsened in a short space of time both of which cannot wait until the next available routine appointment. If our ACP is unable to deal with the issue presented, i.e. if it is not an acute issue, she will advise you of what action to take which may be to book a routine appointment.
