Thursday 5th and Friday 6th November
Arrangements for patients
The practice has developed business continuity arrangements to minimise disruption and ensure patients continue to have access to appropriate services during the temporary closure.
Patients are being informed of the closure in advance through a range of channels, including the practice website and Facebook page, posters and information screens at the practice, the Patient Participation Group and the practice telephone message. Local NHS partners and services are also being informed.
While the practice is closed:
- Patients will be notified in advance through the practice’s usual communication channels, with information explaining the closure and how to access services.
- Anyone needing urgent same-day medical care will be asked to contact NHS 111, which can assess their needs and direct them to the most appropriate service. Patients should continue to call 999 in an emergency.
- Routine appointments affected by the closure will be rearranged, with additional capacity provided before and after the closure where possible.
- The practice will make specific arrangements for patients with known vulnerabilities or ongoing care needs, including housebound patients and care home residents.
- Prescription requests and other time-sensitive work will be managed in advance, with arrangements in place for urgent issues during the closure. Contact the Medicines Order Line MOLS on 0115 855 0260, or order through the NHS App or your SystmOne online account. For urgent prescription enquiries, please contact NHS 111.
- Online consultations will be temporarily unavailable during the two days, with patients clearly signposted to alternative services.
The practice is also notifying local pharmacies, neighbouring practices, care homes and other relevant healthcare partners so they are aware of the temporary closure and the arrangements being put in place.
The NHS Directory of Services will be updated to reflect the closure, helping ensure patients are directed appropriately during the two-day period.
Patients are being advised to contact NHS 111 for urgent same-day medical enquiries or call 999 in an emergency. For routine medical enquiries, patients should contact the practice when it reopens on Monday 9 November.
