Screening information

  • Screening

The national screening programmes test patients for signs of disease and can help save lives by finding cancers at an early stage or even prevent them.
This page has lots of resources below to help answer any questions you may have about screening.
Please feel free to contact the practice if you have any further questions or need further support to attend screening on 01283 227870. We are very happy to help and make the screening process as easy as possible for you.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening is a way of checking if there’s a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel that runs from your heart down through your tummy.

Bowel screening

NHS bowel cancer screening checks if you could have bowel cancer. It’s available to everyone aged 60 to 74 years.

Breast screening

If you are over 70 and still wish to have breast screening, please contact the local breast screening unit to book in and make an appointment every 3 years.

Regular breast screening can find breast cancer before you notice any signs or symptoms.

Cervical screening

Cervical screening (a smear test) is a test to check the health of the cervix and help prevent cervical cancer. It’s offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64.
